At North Shore Animal League America, our no-kill mission is aware of no season. Rather, it is a 12 months-spherical commitment to each canine, cat, puppy and kitten in want. As we walk by the window of the pet store in town, all we see are the cute little puppies. What we don’t see are the large, inhumane breeding operations that supply so many pet stores across the U.S. Breeding operations put revenue over animal welfare, imprisoning female canine to breed litter after litter, without proper medical care or human contact.
Our adoption fees assist to cover a fraction of the cost of providing meals, shelter, and veterinary take care of our adoptable pets. Ellie is settling in to her foster home properly, hanging together with her foster who’s home more often than not. She loves her four-legged foster siblings and is trying to find a forever house with one other dog to show her that not all that is new is horrifying.
